Document Templates does not store personal data of its own. It processes data from existing lime objects — which may contain personal data — at the moment of document generation, and the generated file is stored as a document lime object's file property and is then governed by Lime CRM's normal data-retention rules.

Template files themselves are authored by template managers and are not expected to contain personal data; embedding real personal data into a template (e.g. real names in placeholder text) is not recommended.

See Zombie files for retention behavior of template files whose configuration entry in Lime Admin has been deleted.
